Virginia Film Festival to screen "Passengers"

The Virginia Film Festival will feature a screening of "Passengers" and appearance by cast member David Morse. It will be on Friday, October 31 at 7PM at Newcomb Theatre.

"We are thrilled that David Morse will be joining us this year and greatly look forward to his appearance and to his film, Passengers, which also stars Anne Hathaway. Our preview screening will also include a remote hookup interview with its director, Rodrigo Garcia," said Virginia Film Festival Artistic Director Richard Herskowitz. "David Morse is one of those actors who, no matter what role he is in, seems to jump off the screen and create indelible characters. "

"Passengers"movie critics reviews--with positive comments!

Some reviews of "Passengers" are not as scathing as others. Here are a few that even have praise for Patrick's work...

And, remember, judge the film for yourself. More Patrick Wilsonfans are seeing it and really loving his performance in this film. If you are one of the lucky few who have it in your area, ignore the critics and give it a whirl! And please post over on our messageboard on the "Passengers Fan Reviews" there HERE.

LA Times:

With praise for Patrick:

"The acting is generally good, with the likes of Dianne Wiest and Andre Braugher helping to class up the thing. Wilson fares best, delivering a layered performance as a man trying to understand things that can't be understood while newly awakened to the sharpness and sweetness of being alive. But if you're a Hathaway fan and can only see one movie this week, "Rachel Getting Married" is your better bet."

Passengers

This intelligent supernatural drama stars Anne Hathaway as a grief counselor who, assigned to work with a group of plane-crash survivors, becomes attracted to one of them (Patrick Wilson). Director Rodrigo Garcia moves the story along gradually, which helps to mitigate some of the more formulaic elements; the first half plays like a quirky romantic drama, giving barely an inkling of the paranormal events that follow. The surprise ending isn't as shocking as those of Jacob's Ladder or The Sixth Sense—two stellar examples of the genre—but it's still dramatically potent. Cinematographer Igor Jadue-Lillo renders the Vancouver locales in suitably austere monochrome. With David Morse, Andre Braugher, and Diane Wiest. PG-13, 94 min. (JK)

"what’s surprising is that it was even made at all. Consummate professionals Hathaway and Wilson do their part to disguise the film’s lack of energy or originality, with Wilson bringing a mischievous spark to his character that threatens to make things almost interesting. The duo even develop an easy chemistry"

"This I Know For Sure" Patrick Wilson in Nov 2008 "O" Magazine

The November 2008 issue of Oprah's "O" Magazine has a "These Things We Know" Feature and here is Patrick's contribution:

Patrick Wilson, on Marriage
Patrick Wilson is appearing in the Broadway production of "All My Sons" with Katie Holmes and in the film "Passengers".

I know three things for sure…

1. That no one says my name like my wife. I hear her say "Patrick Wilson," and I feel as if nobody's ever said it. That's never gone away.

2. That she has the most beautiful profile.

3. That no matter how late I put my son to bed, he will never sleep in.
